Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern use of the CompileRoad game, World Rank, code judging services, and paid sponsorship placements.

Effective August 30, 2026 · Last updated August 30, 2026

Key points

This overview is provided for convenience. The complete document below controls.

  • 1.

    The game is free. Players are not charged to walk the road, submit solutions, earn coffee, or appear in World Rank.

  • 2.

    Sponsorships are paid. Sponsors purchase clearly labelled digital placements at the US-dollar price and billing period shown at checkout.

  • 3.

    Delivery follows approval. A purchased placement is published after its creative and destination are reviewed and approved.

  • 4.

    Cancellation and refunds. Future renewals can be cancelled. A month already started is normally non-refundable, subject to law and non-delivery rights.

1. YOUR AGREEMENT

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and the operator of CompileRoad, provided from compileroad.com. By using the game, its APIs, World Rank, or sponsor checkout, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. Sponsor purchases also follow the Sponsor Rules. If the Sponsor Rules conflict with these Terms, these Terms control.

If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. WHO MAY USE COMPILEROAD

You must be at least 13 years old. If the law where you live requires you to be older to agree to online terms, you must meet that age or have a parent or guardian agree for you. A sponsor purchaser must be able to bind the organisation they represent.

3. TRAVELLER NAMES ARE NOT ACCOUNTS

CompileRoad uses a traveller name without a password or email. The name identifies a saved journey; it does not authenticate its owner. Anyone who enters the same name can view, continue, restart, or overwrite that journey.

Choose a non-sensitive name, do not reuse a password, and do not impersonate another person or organisation. There is no automatic recovery if a journey is changed or lost.

4. WHAT THE GAME PROVIDES

CompileRoad is an educational programming game. Walking, challenges, judging, hints, progress, badges, rankings, and sponsor surfaces may change as the service develops.

Public example tests run on your device. Hidden-test submissions are sent to our server for judging. Passing examples alone is not a verified solve, and a judge result can be corrected if a test, question, or system error is discovered.

5. HONEST PROGRESS

CompileRoad records unaided solves, assisted solves, and skips separately. You may use the help the game offers, but you must not falsify results, exploit bugs to claim progress, automate submissions, manipulate World Rank, or present a skipped challenge as solved.

We may correct or remove inaccurate progress or rankings. We can also restrict access when needed to protect the fairness or safety of the road.

6. YOUR CODE AND CONTENT

You keep ownership of source code and sponsor creative you provide. You give CompileRoad a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, run, test, format, and display that material only as needed to provide, secure, and improve the service or fulfil a sponsor placement.

You confirm that you have the rights to material you submit and that it does not violate law or another person’s rights. Do not put secrets, personal data, malware, or confidential employer code into the editor.

7. ACCEPTABLE USE

You must not:

  • attack, overload, probe, bypass, or disrupt the service or judge;
  • submit malicious code or try to escape the code sandbox;
  • scrape the service or hidden tests at unreasonable scale;
  • access, overwrite, or interfere with a journey you know is not yours;
  • use CompileRoad to break the law or infringe another person’s rights; or
  • remove labels, notices, attribution, or technical protections.

Responsible security reports are welcome at contact@compileroad.com. Do not access or retain other people’s data while testing.

8. COFFEE, BADGES, LEVELS, AND RANK

Coffee, badges, levels, and rank are limited game features. They have no monetary value, cannot be redeemed for cash, and are not transferable property. We may rebalance, correct, reset, or retire them when reasonably needed, especially to fix an error or protect fair progress.

9. SPONSORSHIPS AND PAYMENTS

The price, billing period, taxes, renewal, cancellation, and payment terms shown at Polar checkout apply to a sponsor purchase. Payment reserves the selected inventory; it does not automatically approve the creative. Sponsor names, logos, claims, links, and destinations must be lawful, accurate, safe, and suitable for a learning game.

We may request changes or reject creative that does not meet those standards. Cancellations and refunds follow the checkout terms and applicable law. A sponsor is responsible for keeping its destination and claims accurate throughout the placement.

A placement is labelled sponsorship, not an endorsement. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, we do not guarantee a number of impressions, clicks, applications, sales, or other results. Sponsors never influence questions, difficulty, progress, or rank.

The full placement model, allowed creative, approval process, and fixed-month protection are explained in the Sponsor Rules.

10. ORDERS, DELIVERY, RENEWAL, CANCELLATION, AND REFUNDS

Product and price

CompileRoad sells digital sponsorship placements. The placement, price in US dollars, billing period, applicable tax, and whether the purchase renews are displayed before payment. A price change applies only to a future purchase or renewal and does not shorten a period already paid for.

Payment processing

Polar processes checkout and payment. We do not collect or store full payment-card numbers. An order is confirmed after Polar confirms successful payment. A payment reserves the selected inventory but remains subject to creative approval.

Delivery

The sponsor must provide the requested logo, name, tagline, colours, destination, and proof of authority when requested. We normally review complete creative by the next working day. The paid placement period begins on the date stated at checkout or agreed in writing. If no date is stated, it begins when the approved creative is published. We will confirm when the placement is live.

Renewal and cancellation

A one-time purchase ends after its confirmed period. If checkout identifies the purchase as recurring, it renews at the disclosed interval until cancelled. The sponsor may cancel a future renewal through the Polar customer portal or by emailing contact@compileroad.com before the next charge. Cancellation does not remove a placement during a month already paid for.

Refunds

A sponsor may request a full refund before creative work begins or the placement goes live, whichever happens first. After an approved placement goes live, the current paid period is non-refundable except where applicable law requires otherwise or CompileRoad fails to provide a material part of the purchased period for reasons within our control. In that case, we may extend the placement or refund the affected unused period.

If we cannot approve a sponsor or compliant replacement creative, we will cancel the order and refund the unused placement. We do not refund a live placement because it receives fewer views, clicks, applications, sales, or other results than expected, or when it is removed for the sponsor’s breach. Full details are in our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

11. COMPILEROAD CONTENT

CompileRoad and its game design, writing, questions, hidden tests, characters, art, audio, code, logos, and other materials are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property law. These Terms give you permission to use the service for its intended personal or internal business purpose; they do not transfer ownership.

12. OTHER SERVICES AND LINKS

CompileRoad uses third-party infrastructure and payment services and may link to sponsor websites. We do not control an external site’s content, availability, security, or privacy practices. Your use of those services may be subject to separate terms.

13. CHANGES, AVAILABILITY, AND SUSPENSION

We may add, remove, update, pause, or discontinue parts of CompileRoad. We do not promise that the service or a saved journey will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. Keep your own copy of code you care about.

We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms, creates legal or security risk, harms other users, or threatens the service. Where practical, we will use a proportionate response and provide notice.

14. EDUCATIONAL DISCLAIMER

CompileRoad is provided for learning and practice. It is not a promise of employment, interview success, certification, admission, or any particular learning outcome. Questions, feedback, rankings, and explanations may contain mistakes and should not be your only source for an important decision.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available” without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. Rights that cannot legally be excluded remain unaffected.

15. LIMITS ON LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CompileRoad is not liable for indirect, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive loss, or for lost data, profit, opportunity, goodwill, or business arising from the service.

For any claim connected to a paid sponsor placement, our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid us for that placement during the six months before the event giving rise to the claim. For free use, our total liability will not exceed US $100. These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, including liability that cannot legally be limited.

16. LAW AND DISPUTES

These Terms are governed by the laws that apply to the CompileRoad operator and your use of the service, without taking away mandatory consumer rights you have where you live. Before filing a formal claim, please contact us and give both sides 30 days to try to resolve it.

17. CHANGES AND CONTACT

We may update these Terms as the game or law changes. We will update the date above and give clearer notice before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.

Questions about these Terms can be sent to contact@compileroad.com. If one part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver of it.
